Virginia "Ginny" Burr, 80, of Clinton, passed away on March 12, 2017.

She was born on September 22, 1936, in New Britain, the daughter of Gideon and Hilder Nyren. Her siblings included Fred and Roy Nyren.

Virginia graduated in 1957 from the Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing, and was a nurse for 49 years. She was a longtime and active member of the United Methodist Church in Clinton. She was a big fan of UCONN men's and women's basketball, and of the Boston Red Sox. Virginia enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and camping. She...

She was born on September 22, 1936, in New Britain, the daughter of Gideon and Hilder Nyren. Her siblings included Fred and Roy Nyren.

Virginia graduated in 1957 from the Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing, and was a nurse for 49 years. She was a longtime and active member of the United Methodist Church in Clinton. She was a big fan of UCONN men's and women's basketball, and of the Boston Red Sox. Virginia enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and camping. She was also a longtime bowler with the Early Risers League of Old Saybrook.

Virginia is survived by her children Cindy Howe, Debbie Strukus, and Rich Burr, and grandchildren Christopher Howe, Brian and Amanda Strukus, Ross Burr, and Tucker Burr.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband Leonard Burr, and her sons James and Douglas.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17th at 10am in the United Methodist Church, 10 Commerce St., Clinton, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the United Methodist Church of Clinton, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
