Norman Picard, of Killingworth, CT passed peacefully on April 25, 2015, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to young and old alike was born on May 1, 1929, in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Zephyr Charles and Eva (Gould) Picard.

As a lifelong athlete, Norman starred in Woonsocket high school football 1946-1949, won gold and silver medals in New England Gymnastics in 1957, YMCA instructor, and was an avid lifelong golfer.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to young and old alike was born on May 1, 1929, in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Zephyr Charles and Eva (Gould) Picard.

As a lifelong athlete, Norman starred in Woonsocket high school football 1946-1949, won gold and silver medals in New England Gymnastics in 1957, YMCA instructor, and was an avid lifelong golfer.

A U.S. Army veteran, amateur pilot also active in church and civic activities and a member of the Blue Bird Club, East Haven Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Picard is survived by his wife Carolyn Picard; children Douglas Picard of Santa Cruz, CA, Martha and Robert LeBlanc of Kissimmee, FL, Paul and Christine Picard of New Bern, NC, John Picard of Stony Creek, CT, and Norma Jean Picard of Middletown, CT; siblings Irene Ethier of Albion, RI, Barbara Howson and Roger Picard of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Alyson LeBlanc, Jason Picard, Elizabeth Trisotto, Robert LeBlanc, Phillip Picard, Michele and Marc Picard; great grandchidlren Julian and Angelina Trisotto, Charlotte and Oliver LeBlanc, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Alfred Picard of Woonsocket.

Calling hours will be held on Monday April 27th from 4-8pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 28th at 11am in St. Lawrence Church, Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. A calling hour will also be held in church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, on Green Hill Road, Killingworth.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Lawrence Church or Connecticut Hospice.
